vogue + daily outfits

While going through my daily blogs at work one day, I can across an article on VOGUE.COM. The article- 'Five Day, Five Looks, One Girl'- featured Esther Adams, a fashion writer for Vogue, and her outfits for the week. After working in an office five days a week, this gave me a little inspiration on outfit chooses for the upcoming week.

custom made jeans + no really

It's a raining Monday here in New York, and when it's gloomy outside- it's gloomy in the office. It makes me want to go home and cuddle up to Netflix with a some carrots and hummus- I know random.  Saying it's a slow day would be an understatement. But i've spent my time browsing fashion and beauty blogs, and some of my favorite fashion go-to sites. Sometimes there are perks to my internship and something...  it can be a debby downer. But when you work 5 days a week, it's not always going to be bright rays on sunshine smiling at you. I came across this article on REFINERY29 about a unique store in Soho called 3x1. This store is the true definition of a custom made jean. I added this to my list of places to stop by while I am here in New York. No matter how many times I go to Soho, I always find something new. Let's hope the sales person doesn't convince me to get a pair or 2 or my mother wouldn't be the happiest camper when she gets that bill, but I could always use the excuse of 'I needed these, no one else has them' because technically no one does. One of the coolest thing about the store is the workshop is inside of it. So you can relax in the air condition store or keep on browsing different stores in SoHo- because you have to buy tops to go with the jeans- while they make your pants.

Since I currently take all my photos from the instagram app on my iPhone, I figured doing a post like this a week showing what I did would be necessary. Even though I only have 3 weeks left, I will be cramming everything left on my 'NYC Bucket list' during these last few days. This past weekend, after FashionCampusNYC, I finally explored lower manhattan. All in one day, me & a friend did Century 21, World Trade Centers, Battery Park, Wall Street, Chelsea Market, and walked the whole entire Highline Park.
It started out at Century 21, but, after spending less than 30 minutes in the store, I had to leave because it was so crammed. It was followed by viewing the World Trade Center memorial and looking at the Freedom towers- still being built. We walked to Wall Street and the New York Stoke Exchange. I was hoping I could find myself a wealthy investment banker who would be willing to take me shopping- sadly no luck. Heading further south, we walked by Stone Street which had tables down the entire road, a perfect place for after work drinks and food- makes me wish I worked in this are, but I'm not smart enough for that. We headed to Battery Park for some late people watching while eating a popsicle-which melted fast because of the heat- and pizza filled pretzels. We took the subway up to Chelsea and cooled down while exploring the Chelsea Market. It took awhile to figure out what to eat since there was so much to choose from. I finally settled for a Scallion Clam Chowed- so delicious! As the sun started to go down, we walked the entire Highline park, where people laid on the lawn chairs and families sat enjoying the east coast sunset.

rip + amy winehouse

It's been all over the media about Amy Winehouse's death. While to most of us it wasn't a shock, she had amazing talent and will be missed. I haven't listened to Winehouse's music in awhile, but i've been listening to it almost non-stop today, and it reminded me of how much I love her music.

internship + editorial

I've been a little under the blue lately. I keep telling myself to post on the blog, but the moment I lay my head down I immediately pass out- i'm beginning to feel like my mother. I only have 3 weeks left in New York, which is bittersweet. I still have a few items on my NYC bucket list I want to accomplish before leaving- like walking in between subway carts while it's moving (jk). There are times I get homesick. I do miss the occasional sit down dinners with my family, centralized air condition in the house, THE BEACH & BEING TAN, and my friends. I'm a little scared to get back to driving, after 3 months of literally not driving plus my horrible driving skills (i'm asian and a women-duh!), I might have to practice a tad bit when I get back.

The first photo shoot I worked on for my internship at STYLECASTER involved Sky Ferreira. It was definitely interesting to see what goes on behind-the-scenes at a photo shoot- especially when you see the finished work after editing. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the photo shoot, taken from the SC Website.

While I didn't work on these photo shoots, I did have to do a little work getting clothing information on them. And they are still some of my favorites. You can find these at STYLECASTER under the fashion section. Make sure your tweet, love, and fb like! And if you haven't made an account, you should probably jump on that- or we can't be friends.

weekend + fashion campus nyc

THIS PAST WEEKEND, ME AND SOME FELLOW INTERNS FROM STYLECASTER ATTENDING THE FIRST 'FASHION CAMPUS NYC' HELD BY PARSONS NEW SCHOOL FOR DESIGN. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WE LISTED TO EXPERTS FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE FASHION INDUSTRY AND WERE ABLE TO NETWORK WITH THEM ALSO. BECAUSE WE KNOW HOW IMPORTANT CONNECTIONS AND NETWORKING IS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY. AFTER A LONG DAY FRIDAY OF PREPARING FOR PHOTO SHOOTS THIS UPCOMING WEEK, ME AND ANOTHER INTERN RUSHED TO MAKE IT TO THE EVENT ON TIME ON FRIDAY. WE LISTENED TO FASHION INDUSTRY EXPERTS FROM CFDA, SAKS, WEST ELM, AND SO MUCH MORE. AFTER EACH OF THE SPOKE, WE WERE ABLE TO ASK THEM QUESTIONS. ON SATURDAY, WE WERE SEPARATED INTO DIFFERENT SESSIONS PERTAINING TO WHICH PART OF THE FASHION INDUSTRY WE ARE INTERESTED IN LIKE PR, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, AND ACCOUNTING. AND TO FINISH THE EVENT, WE LISTENED TO DEREK LAM SPEAK. I WAS ABLE TO ASK HIM A QUESTION OF MY OWN AND HE KINDLY ANSWERED. I GREW MORE RESPECT FOR DEREK LAM AFTER THIS WEEKEND.

photo diary + instagram

SO LATELY, THE ONLY PICTURES I TAKE ARE WITH MY INSTAGRAM APP ON MY IPHONE.   I'VE BEEN TOO LAZY TO CARRY AROUND MY CAMERA AND ALSO SCARED I'LL BRAKE IT OR GET IT STOLEN. MY IPHONE IS MUCH MORE CONVENIENT. THESE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, I'VE BEEN GOING ALL AROUND THE CITY. ME AND MY FRIENDS TRIED MAX BRENER, THE CHOCOLATE RESTAURANT, BUT WE WERE DISAPPOINTED. WE EXPECTED A PLACE OF CHOCOLATE HEAVEN, BUT WERE GREETED BY CHOCOLATE DISAPPOINTMENT. I ENJOYED A NIGHT IN BRYANT PARK FOR OLD SUMMER MOVIES AND MEET THE MOST INTERESTING GROUP OF PEOPLE. OF COURSE, I WOULD GET STUCK NEXT TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAD A BLOW UP CACTUS AND A GIRL DOING YOGA. I'VE BEEN SPLURGING ON SHOPPING IN SOHO, AND GOING DEEPER INTO CENTRAL PARK. THE BEST PARK ABOUT NOT CARRYING A CAMERA THOUGH IS THE FACT PEOPLE MISTAKE ME FOR A REAL LOCAL. BUT THE BAD PART IS WHEN PEOPLE ASK FOR DIRECTION, I TEND TO GIVE THEM THE WRONG ONE. I'VE STEPPED AWAY FROM MANHATTAN TO GO TO MY FAVORITE PART OF BROOKLYN-WILLIAMSBURG. WE HIT UP THE NORTHSIDE MARKET TO SEE IF WE CAN FIND VINTAGE JEWELRY, BUT WE WERE MORE IMPRESSED WITH THE MANHATTAN SKYLINE. I STIL HAVE 5 WEEKS LEFT, SO WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE I'LL BE DOING AND ADDING TO MY INSTAGRAM DIARY.
