recap + London fashion week

Well look here, another fashion week has come and gone... and it's already in Milan? While I recover from my jam packed week, this cut-throat industry waits for no one! I guess that's why they call it a 'fast-paced industry'. As I read twitter feeds buzzing about Milan collections, I just, yesterday, had the chance to look at London. I do suppose I have to be the bad mother here and choose my favorite collection, but... what kind of mother would I be if I did that. Cough Cough... Sass & Bide. However, they have some pretty tough contenders behind them.

polka dots + fall trends

Fall clothing is coming upon us, and if you are like me you are ready to pull out all your fabulous coats and dark colors. But before you add the layers, think about adding something playful to your wear. And What could be more playful than the polka dot? Marc Jacobs and DVF had it constantly on the runway, along with Lyn Devon and Paul Smith. Marc Jacobs went retro, DVF kept things big and playful, and Paul Smith's were subtle. The dot lies in the interpretation.

Each season a certain color pops out on the runway. One year it was purple then olive. This past season I noticed one color that popped out more than the other. Red was obviously a major player in this seasons Fall 2011 collections. TOPSHOP offers come killer red pumps, Chanel plays it classic with a red shoulder bag, and Etoile plays it well by mixing red and black together in an oversize sweater. So when you headed into the store to start your fall wardrobe, think red... and add some black and white into the mix too.

i like the way you walk

I haven't reviewed a runway in a really long time. I've always been scared to give my honest opinion. But I spent a good three hours on STYLE the other day, looking a photo after photo of runway shows. When I saw Erin Fetherston Fall '11 collection, I immediately thought this is so Fetherston. A few skepticism were in my mind before I looked at the collection because she recently left the Juicy Couture label. Gratefully, Her collection stayed true to who she was. While I love lavish designs from runway collections, this plain and simple collection was still able to catch my eye. I would wear every piece in this collection. This would definitely bring out my girlish side.

Damaris Rubio: MBIFW runway

Since I was working backstage most of the time during Miami Beach International Fashion Week, I rarely got to watch the shows. Occasionally I would sneak around the corner and take a peak. One of my favorite collections was the one by Damaris Rubio. The bright colors made for such beautiful pieces. When I saw these garments up close and personal, I couldn't take my eyes off them.
