model behavior

Throughout all the crazy outfit changes and running around backstage, I was lucky to find the time to snap pictures of some of the outfits models wore. My favorite designs are gowns/dresses. On the second night of Miami Beach International Fashion Week, one of the shows was evening wear. Obviously I had to work backstage for this. The first four dresses are from the designer to first go out. He didn't want his dresses to get thrown around so only a few people could handle his dresses. I had the pleasure of meeting the designer after the show. He was probably one of the nicest people I met. Even though there was a little language barrier, it didn't stop him from having a full on conversation with me. His best advice was "don't be afraid to go after what you want, you are young, take advantage of everything handed to you". At the end of the conversation, he handed me his business card and told me to keep in touch. Perfect!

Damaris Rubio: MBIFW runway

Since I was working backstage most of the time during Miami Beach International Fashion Week, I rarely got to watch the shows. Occasionally I would sneak around the corner and take a peak. One of my favorite collections was the one by Damaris Rubio. The bright colors made for such beautiful pieces. When I saw these garments up close and personal, I couldn't take my eyes off them.

rocky gathercole: backstage

One designer I was blessed to work with during Miami Beach International Fashion Week was Rocky Gathercole. He is a Filipino designer based in Dubai. His collection caught my attention the moment I walked backstage. He really inspired me, not only because he is Filipino, but because he isn't afraid to make these lavish outfits. They are meant for a showgirl, but all of us encouraged him to reach out to Lady Gaga. For about 2 hours me and a few other girls would working hard to put together all his intricate pieces. Each piece was made from real metal, feathers, and crystals. It was truly astonishing to see this in person.

cause baby you were born this way

It's been awhile since I've last updated. This spring break has been all of over the place, and the computer is the last thing I am thinking about. I should probably be asleep, because once 4:30 a.m. hits, it is going to be brutal on my.
Miami was a successful trip. I learn much more about fashion and working backstage in 3 nights than I have in the past 2 years when I did it for school. The literally one minute outfit change, to finding a model a pair of shoes, and so much more. I was also able to meet the amazing designers behind these one-of-a-kind pieces. It was the longest weekend but well worth it. This is just a (few) pictures of around South Beach, Miami. We went shopping on Lincoln Street, where I ate the best pizza. I was even able to try macaroons for the first time EVER! I promise there will be more pictures soon (once spring break calms down that it).

five more days

As I continue to think of clothe ideas for Miami, I realized I barely have anything and my tan isn't up to speed. It looks like a small shopping trip to get some essential items for my trip. I'm all for pinks and bright colors for the trip.

you keep calling my name

Next weekend i'll be working Miami International Fashion Week, and I am so excited. It'll be a long 6-11 shift from Fri-Sun but it's worth it. The weather has been so amazing the past few days, that I've been working on my tan. I got really pale these past few months, and I can't be pale in Miami. Unfortunately I have to go through 1 exam, a midterm, and a paper before I leave, but at least I get to celebrate! Oh spring break please hurry!!
