red white blue + fashion

On July 4th while the nation celebrates the birth of our country, I will also be celebrating the birth of my mom. Yes, my mom was born on July 4th. When I was younger (like 2 years ago- of course) thought that my mom was so loved that everyone had to do fireworks for her birthday. Eventually I learned- like yesterday- that the fourth of July was also to celebrate the birth of America. This year I am still putting plans together like: brunch with friends, a day in the city wearing blue and red, maybe heading to Coney Island for some beach and hot dog eating contest, and possibly going crabbing at 5am. But the one plan I am going through with is seeing the fireworks on the Hudson River. Oh and of course calling to sing happy birthday to mom in a really off pitch voice.

bring on the new year

The year twenty ten brought way more than I could ask for, I'm healthy, awesome friends, landed an internship, an amazing boyfriend, family who is there to support me, and so much more. While my blog mention how much I want some things, I am happy with things I have in my life right now. In 2010, I grew to the happiest I've been in awhile. While I had struggles, I am truly blessed! You are the reason I keep writing, thank you so much for supporting me and for reading! Check back in 2011 for brand new things coming to this blog!!

I will be celebrating the new year with a group of my best girlfriends in these shoes.

After repeatedly saying how bad I want a faux fur coat, "santa" finally delivered. Almost every store in town was out or didn't even have one in stock, so I was pretty shocked this was wrapped under the tree. The day after Christmas, the weather was frightful. According to my car temp, it never reached above 40 degree. I know it isn't like the blizzard storm most are about to endure, but it's Florida... this is a blizzard to us. We did have some snow flurries! It was probably the most exciting this I've seen. This faux fur coat was perfect for the weather.

As the days got closer to Christmas, the more time spent away from the house doing all the last minute shopping, cleaning, and getting ready for the family gathering. I helped my mom cook up her delicious mac n' cheese while the house smelled like pumpkin pie. After all the family members arrived, we shared laughs, talk about football, and opened presents. But nothing made me more happy then the comfort of my own home. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and got to celebrate it with your family members and loved ones. Here are few things that made me smile this past few.

Every Christmas my mom buys the same color wrapping paper, red and green for the christmas tree in the family room, and silver and white for the christmas tree in the living room. Why two different colors for the trees? That way she can tell apart which christmas presents are for family sides. One of the benefits of having my main family members living in the same city is we are all able to get together during the holiday season. There is no reason to be stuck in traffic on the interstate or at the airport because the flight got delayed. While my mom likes to use store bought wrapping paper, I found these awesome wrapping style ideas that are perfect for those artsy crafty and go green supporters.

in the spirit of the holiday

With a week and a half away from Christmas, it only means the parties are coming. The sudden change in cold weather isn't going to change my outfit plans. I've had my outfit idea planned for a few weeks now, it's just needs finding the right one to wear. I love the idea of a one shoulder dress paired with pumps or ankle booties. But I need to get a move on, I only have a few days to spare.

home for the holidays

After four long and stressful months, I am finally done with classes for the semester. What does this mean? A (much needed) trip back home for about a month. Upon arriving home, my mom had put up about 80% of the Christmas decorations. It's not the easiest thing decorating with my mom, she will most likely change it to how she likes it to look. With so many decorations, it is kind of hard to know where to put everything. As a holiday decorating tradition, my family has two christmas trees, one is real, 10 ft tall, and white, and the other one is fake, 6 ft tall, and red. Little christmas trees, wreaths, candles, and poinsettias fill the rest of the house. My sister begged me to bring home my sewing machine so I am hoping to create a few pieces over the next couple of weeks!

Every season I gather up a (rather long) list of worthy item I want/need to own. It becomes so long that if I did buy everything on that list I would cause myself and my family to go bankrupt and give myself bad credit for the rest of my adult life. As the holiday season starts to come around and weather starts to chill up, I've come up with a final (and kinda small) list of things I know my closet is lusting for. These three items are things I have been searching for for awhile now, hopefully these holiday sales will bring good luck in my search.

a list for santa

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, the only thing on my mind is the holiday season. When I was little, I use to make my Christmas list a little around Thanksgiving, that way it gave "santa" a head start. As Christmas got closer and closer, my list got longer and longer. Nowadays, I keep my list simple. I've been asking for home decor and beauty products more than anything, and my mom keeps telling me it's a sign of me getting "old". While I should be preparing for my finals, I am instead creating my shopping list for the next few weeks (along with creating a wish list of my own).
